A residential trailer home for remote islands, jointly developed by Okiden Kigyo, KTX and Park Homes Okinawa Co., Ltd., was featured in Ryukyu Shimpo. Against the shortage of move-in-ready housing on the islands, attention focused on how it can be deployed in as little as about three months and can be moved or redeployed. The report covered it as an initiative that works both as everyday housing and as infrastructure in a disaster, thanks to a structure designed with typhoons in mind.

In island regions of Okinawa Prefecture, the following structural problems have become apparent.

• A shortage of move-in-ready housing
• The need to build the living environment that relocation and settlement require
• Rising material and labor costs, and longer construction schedules
• Time and cost problems in securing emergency temporary housing in a disaster

In this initiative we developed a residential trailer home that treats housing not as a mere building but as adaptable infrastructureusable in both normal times and disasters.
